Shed Buying Guide

Shed Size

When choosing the size of your new shed it's important to consider several factors: floor space, overhead and wall hanging space, walk-around space, and workspace (if needed).

Yard Location

Choosing the right location for your shed involves several key considerations to ensure it remains functional and durable. Keep the following points in mind:

  • Choose a high spot in your yard, avoiding low areas where water accumulates.
  • Ensure the builder has 3 feet of clearance on all sides for installation.
  • Consider door and window placement to maximize natural light inside the shed.

Homeowner's Association / Permits

Before installing a shed, understanding permit requirements and Homeowners Association (HOA) restrictions is essential to avoid legal complications and ensure compliance with local regulations.

  • Check city ordinances before purchasing to understand permit needs.
  • Contact your Homeowners Association (HOA) to confirm restrictions on size, materials, or placement.

Obtaining necessary permits is the customer’s responsibility. For signed and stamped drawings, contact customer service at 1-800-234-6167 for a small fee.
